Treasures of Italy
Viaggiare e Vivere — to travel is to live. Five nights in Venice and Florence, linked by first-class train.
Viaggiare e Vivere — to travel is to live
No place I know makes you feel more alive than Italy. This five-night journey pairs two of its greatest treasures — Venice, rising dreamlike from its lagoon, and Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance — and links them with a relaxed first-class train ride through the Italian countryside. Two nights on the canals, three in Tuscany, and daily breakfast to ease you into every morning the Italian way.
It's a trip built for travelers who want art, atmosphere and la dolce vita without the rush — time to linger over a gondola ride, lose an afternoon in the Uffizi, or simply watch the world go by from a sun-warmed piazza. Prefer a different pairing? We also arrange Venice & Rome and Rome & Florence combinations, and can extend your stay in either city.
Your day-by-day journey
A sample rhythm for five nights between Venice and Florence — yours to extend, slow down or reshape around what you love.
Arrive in Venice
Fly from Los Angeles to Venice and trade the airport for the water as you make your way to your hotel. There's nothing quite like that first glide along a canal, palazzi rising on either side. Settle in, then wander out for a spritz and your first plate of Venetian cicchetti.
St. Mark's, gondolas & Murano
Spend the morning in St. Mark's Square with its glittering basilica and the Doge's Palace, then slip into the quiet back lanes where Venice feels timeless. Cross the lagoon to Murano to watch master glassblowers at work. As evening falls, drift through the canals by gondola — pure magic.
First-class train to Florence
After breakfast, board a first-class train and watch the Italian countryside roll by on the comfortable journey south. Arriving in Florence, settle into your central hotel just steps from the great sights. Spend the first evening getting acquainted over an aperitivo in a lively piazza.
Renaissance masterpieces
Stand beneath Brunelleschi's soaring Duomo, then meet Michelangelo's David in person at the Accademia. In the afternoon, wander the galleries of the Uffizi among Botticelli, Leonardo and the masters. It's a day of treasures — pace it with plenty of café stops and gelato.
A taste of Tuscany
Cross the storied Ponte Vecchio with its goldsmiths' windows, then browse the leather markets and artisan workshops the city is famous for. Climb to Piazzale Michelangelo for the classic view over the rooftops. Cap the day with a long, unhurried Tuscan dinner and a glass of Chianti.
Departure
Enjoy a final Italian breakfast and perhaps one last espresso at a favorite corner. Then it's time to make your way to the airport for your flight from Florence back to Los Angeles — carrying home the unmistakable feeling that, in Italy, you truly lived.
